The government is working to restrict access to Facebook for Russians, with Russian Fact-checking companies restricting Facebook.
It is reported that the Russian government has taken steps to restrict the access of the people of that country to Facebook. This is in line with Meta's move to restrict the Facebook accounts of four Russian media outlets, including Zvezda TV channel, The RIA Novosti news agency, The Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru Internet.
Russia's technology and communications regulator said in a statement yesterday that Facebook was violating the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens and that it had imposed 23 censorships since October 2020.
He also called on Meta's administration to lift Facebook's restrictions on the Russian media, explaining the reasons for the restrictions, and said Meta had ignored the demands.
In response, Meta's chairman for global affairs, Nick Clegg, said the Russian government could not stop fact-checking and labeling their content.
He also released a Twitter post saying that they had taken steps to restrict the use of Facebook after rejecting the Russian government's request.
