The company claims that AMD's latest Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) technology will lead to a smooth gaming experience. They say that while playing some PC games you will experience about 70% better FPS with this technology. It was around 2022 CES that AMD first introduced this "frame rate boosting" technology. The company later revealed more details about it in a YouTube video.
RSR is powered by FSR technology (FidelityFX Super Resolution), both of which are frame rate boosting. But these two technologies work in two different ways. The main feature of RSR is that it is embedded in Radeon GPU drivers, so this technology can support any computer game. With this in mind, FSRs need to be supported by computer game developers. This is because computers vary from game to game and even computers can be very different from each other.
Although FSR supports around 50 computer games, AMD's RSR technology can provide this frame rate boosting to all computer games. While this is good news for gamers, it remains to be seen how the FPS enhancement quality of this technology will compare with that of the FSR.
The RSR technology is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2022, which means it is likely to be released in late March or early April.
