Instagram TV will stop soon

It was recently announced that Instagram will no longer support a separate IGTV app. Instead, the company says it will focus on keeping all video content on the flagship Instagram app. Although IGTV was introduced to compete with YouTube, attempts to enter the competition after this announcement seem to have failed somewhat.

According to the blog post, the reason for this decision is that the IGTV app is being removed as part of an effort to make watching videos and creating as simple as possible. The company has announced that it is working to improve the video viewing experience, including posts and reels on the flagship Instagram app. Also later this year, Instagram will introduce a feature that allows video creators to earn money from video ads.

IGTV introduced 2018 as a separate app for posting vertical videos hoping to compete with YouTube, but in less than a year, IGTV's content was heavily promoted within the flagship Instagram app. In 2020, Instagram removed the button that carried the IGTV content in the main app, due to the small number of users. Last year, the company announced that it was re-branding the name "IGTV" as "Instagram TV" and that it would also introduce the flagship app's ability to post hourly videos from IGTV videos. "

Instagram has made it very clear that it is paying close attention to the video media. Last year, the head of Instagram announced that it was no longer a photo app but was preparing to compete with services such as TikTok and YouTube, transforming it into a regular entertainment app.
