By 2021, 7 of the world's top 10 best-selling smartphones will be the iPhone

You already know that last year Xiaomi surpassed Samsung to become the world's largest smartphone maker. However, when it comes to the world's best-selling smartphones in 2021, none of these companies have been able to surpass Apple.

Counterpoint Research, a leading market research firm, has recently released a list of the world's best-selling smartphones. It was revealed that the iPhone 12 is the most popular smartphone in the market with 2.9% of the total sales. With the iPhone 12 Pro Max (2.2%), iPhone 13 (2.1%), iPhone 12 Pro (2.1%) and iPhone 11 (2.0%) smartphones, Apple has made it to the top 5 on the list. In addition, the Phone SE 2020 and iPhone 13 Pro Max are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively.

Although the release of the iPhone 12 series may be delayed by 2020, it accounts for only 41% of Apple's overall smartphone sales, according to Counterpoint Research.

Surprisingly, the iPhone 11 managed to stay in the top five. The device has seen a huge drop in prices in India after Apple discontinued production of the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. So last year there was more demand for this device. Also, the iPhone SE 2020 was in eighth place, indicating that there is a huge market for the compact iPhone as well.

Samsung has not been able to find a market for a great device in the last few years, and only their entry level smartphone, the Galaxy A12, has been able to make the list. Xiaomi also failed to compete with Apple, with only the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9A gaining several places on the list, contributing 22% to the company's overall smartphone sales.

It is unbelievable that Apple iPhones will dominate the market in the midst of a global chip shortage. This year Apple is said to be bringing the 120Hz ProMotion display and the biggest RAM upgrades for the iPhone 14. Going forward, we will see if Apple can maintain its position in the market or surpass its competitors.
